Break Information for the Boarding Community

End-of-Year Arrangements June 2019

All Boarding Underclassmen are permitted to leave campus for the Summer Break after the completion of their last exam.  Please check with your child to confirm their exam schedule in order to make the appropriate arrangements.

All 9th and 10th grade students are required to have left campus by 13:00 (1 p.m.) on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Juniors attending the Prom on Thursday night, June 6, are permitted to stay in House until 13:00 (1 p.m.) on Friday, June 7.  Any 11th grade students not attending the Prom are expected to leave campus at the same time as Underclassmen – by 13:00 (1 p.m.) on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Please understand that we require timely and accurate information about your child(ren)’s travel plans in order to make the necessary arrangements. This information is essential for their safety and well-being. As usual, we will be handling the end-of-year information for boarding student departures through our Boardingware Leave/Pass application system.

Shuttles will run to London Heathrow on a regular basis on Wednesday, June 5, and until lunchtime on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Students who need a ride to Heathrow Airport will be given the option to join a school shuttle at stated times during duty periods. Students who need transportation at any other time will be expected to make their own arrangements.

We recommend that students who choose to use a taxi to the airport pre-book and coordinate with other students, if possible, to share the ride and cost. Please ensure that your child has money on hand to pay for their taxi ride although most now accept credit/debit cards for payment. Fares to Heathrow start from £18 for Terminal 5 and £22 for all other terminals, however, they increase for early morning or late night collections. A couple of local, safe and reliable local companies are Gemini Cars or Egham Cars.  Please check the Gemini Taxi website or the Egham Cars website - https://eghamcarslimited.co.uk/ for further information on pre-booking a taxi or you may call Gemini on +44 1784 471111 or Egham Cars on +44 1784 434484.

Return Travel Arrangements August 2019

Boarding Prefects are expected to return to campus on Friday, August 16, 2019.

New boarding students should arrive at TASIS on Sunday, August 18, by 18:00 (6 p.m.) with returning boarders arriving on Tuesday, August 20, by 19:00 (7 p.m.). Please do not book flights that will have your son or daughter returning to school after these times. Please note that returning students are responsible for making their own arrangements to get back to school at the end of their break. Returning boarders are not permitted to arrive on Monday, August 19; this day is strictly reserved for new boarder orientation.

Students under the age of 16 should travel with a notarised Parental Permission to Travel. The School will be happy to supply a letter confirming your child’s enrolment at TASIS but this does not guarantee that your child will not be held by immigration until confirmation from all parties concerned is obtained.

Heathrow Airport to TASIS:
There are always "black cabs" available outside the terminals. A reliable and safe alternative is to book ahead with Gemini Cars or Egham Cars (please see the websites linked above for further information).

Heightened security restrictions at London Heathrow airport mean that passengers being collected by taxis, such as Gemini Cars, are not now picked up outside the terminals but at pre-arranged pick-up points. Alternatively, you can arrange a "Meet & Greet" where the driver will meet the passenger inside the terminal as they come through the Customs Hall.  There is an additional charge for this. Please visit the Gemini Taxi website for further information on terminal pick-up arrangements and fares.

Classes resume on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.
