On September 3 Upper School students engaged in their community at the annual Club Fair. With 22 clubs featured in Magna Carta Hall during lunchtime, attendees spoke with club leaders, learned more about each club’s mission, and signed up for the clubs that sparked their interest.

The bustling fair enjoyed a fantastic turn-out by students, who browsed information tables while enjoying freshly-baked cookies and lanyard buttons reminding them to “Get Involved!”

Along with well-established clubs such as the Peru Club, International Club, and Thorpe Community Link, the fair introduced several newly-formed clubs, including Save the Elephants, Women in Politics, and the Clean & Green Club.

Participating in clubs provides students with a wonderful opportunity to live the TASIS mission by nurturing their intellectual curiosity as they learn more about an area of interest. Many clubs are also service-based, encouraging students to make a difference while they flourish as principled, open-minded, and compassionate members of a global society.

Deniz, a TASIS Service Ambassador in the tenth grade, says, “Going to the Club Fair is not just about learning about clubs, but it is also about learning how diverse and creative the TASIS community is. The Club Fair allows for the exchange of inspirational ideas amongst students.”

Clubs typically meet during lunch once a week and, while overseen by a faculty Advisor, are largely student-led. Students may also propose ideas for new clubs; both Dr. Norris and Dr. Yavuz Ulker can provide more information to students who wish to start a new club.
