18 IB Seniors finished their year with a flourish when they attended a performance of
Mozart’s The Magic Flute on. Just as our founder Mrs. Fleming decreed,
classroom learning of the play Amadeus was enhanced by traveling to The Coliseum, home
to the English National Opera. Students were enthralled with the opera, sung in English,
especially when familiar tunes such as the aria from Queen of the Night and the Papageno-
Papagena duet came on. What sublime music. This experience also greatly enhanced the
students’ appreciation of staging and theatricality, lighting and sound effects. Long may they
continue to enjoy the arts!
