Greece Middle School Trip 2018
Posted 10/04/2018 04:03PM

In conjunction with the History and Drama curricula, thirty-one Middle School students traveled to Greece to see, first hand, the original birthplace of Western Civilization! We visited a number of ancient sites from the time of the Iliad and Odyssey, including the well-preserved ruins of ancient Mycenae and Pylos. We also visited the incredible Eurotas Valley, where Spartan soldiers were trained from birth to become fearsome foot soldiers. However, no trip to Greece is complete without experiencing the magnificence of ancient Athens, where we spent time not only seeing the Acropolis, Agora and Pnyx, but touring the vast museums which hold countless treasures and wonders from across time as well. Along the way, we partook in a number of hands-on activities including a pankration lesson, exploring Plato’s Academy with hoplites reenactors, painting clay pottery at an Art Gallery and dancing the night away with traditional Greek dancers. It was a fabulous time, and the students loved every minute of it!
