The boys and girls basketball teams were in Athens over the weekend for the Athens Youth Basketball tournament. As well as playing hoops, the teams also had the chance to visit the Acropolis.
The boys beat two Italian club teams, Lido di Roma and Stella Azzurra. As such, they advanced to the final where they lost to ACS Athens 105 - 82.
The weekend in the cradle of European civilisation was historic indeed for the boys as two players, Cameron B. and Jason Z., achieved personal milestones. Cameron passed the 1,000-point plateau in his career here at TASIS. It was quite an achievement given the fact that he is only in his sophomore year. Jason broke the boys all-time scoring record previously held by Josh Bett, presently an assistant coach with the girls’ team. Jason now has 1668 points. He has 7 more games remaining in the season to post a new mark. The overall scoring record is held by Renee Busch who is closing out her collegiate career this month playing basketball at the University of Pennsylvania.
Next week, the boys are proud to host the 2015 ISST Championships here at TASIS.
