"A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver" - One Book, Two Classes
Posted 09/06/2011 03:26PM

During the final two weeks of Dr. Sheard's English classes, seventh grade students studied E. L. Konigsburg’s historical fiction book about Eleanor of Aquitaine, titled A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver, which tied in with Mr. Staley's history lessons on Eleanor of Aquitaine. "It was a refreshingly quick and easy complement to what the students learned this quarter in history class," said Dr. Sheard.

Below, students comment about their experience using the same book for two courses:

"It made it much easier to learn relatively the same things for more than one class. It's easier to remember things when you experience them more frequently. I hope future classes can experience these methods." —Morgan

"Very good and amazing. "—Kival

"It helped me get an 'A' in both sections, and I understood better!" —Adedayo

"I thought it was great because I was able to connect two of my subjects. It helped a lot."  —Roxanne

"Having to read A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver was great because it helped us in English and on history tests." —Shayna

"It was great because it saved homework time and reading time." —Sebastian
