News from TASIS England
The spring musical, Oklahoma! was a success, gathering audiences of all ages for the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday showings in the Fleming Theatre. View a slide show of the performance in our media gallery.
The marvellous set of the stage, courtesy of Mr. Chappel, immediately gave the audience a glimpse into the rustic beginnings of Oklahoma! just before it became a state. With Mr. Harris’s direction on the stage and Mr. Nash’s vocal instruction, the actors and actresses were stunning. The cast was comprised of many regular theatre participants, including amazing performances by departing seniors Ashton J. (as Will Parker), Kimi M. (as Laurey), and Phillip L. (as Curly). New students also took a hand in the production; new sophomore Alissa M. played Ado Annie, and Javier V. and Felipe K. also had roles as Oklahomans.
With direction from Mrs. Alldridge and Mr. Nash, the pit orchestra supported the cast well. The band included seniors Chris H., Cherae C., and Emma F. on violin, cello, and viola respectively. Other members included Marina K., and Kate H., just to name a few. There was even an 8th grade student, Stephanie B., recruited to play along on the clarinet.
Oklahoma! gave TASIS the opportunity to add to its service in the community, as well. Members of the One-to-One organization were invited to come enjoy the show, and volunteers were there to help those that needed it. The One-to-One participants were appreciative and left smiling, and if the applause was any indication, so did most of the other audience members!
